Buddhist Wedding on Ko Samui
Blessed by monks on beautiful Ko Samui!
Having your marriage blessed by monks in a Thai Buddhist ceremony on Ko Samui is a serene and very special occasion. And you do not have to be a practicing Buddhist to have the blessing of the monks. You simply have to believe in each other and in your marriage.
Traditionally the ceremony takes place in the morning and lasts around 30 minutes. Hin Lad temple is close to Lipa Lodge Beach Resort and you can choose to arrive at the temple on an elephant or with a ‘long-drum’ parade of Thai musicians and dancers. We give a full explanation of what happens during the ceremony and how you should dress and respond in the presence of the monks.
For most of the ceremony you will be kneeling in front of the monks. They will chant prayers and give blessings and afterwards you will present gifts to the monks that we prepare for you. If you have family and friends with you then you can also have a ‘Water Blessing’ ceremony, known in Thai as rod naam sang, once the monks depart. This allows your guests to wish you good fortune and happiness in a traditional Thai way and to be a part of your wedding celebration.
You can also have a ‘Beach Wedding’ later in the afternoon to exchange vows and rings. And have more photographs of your very special wedding day taken on our secluded beach.
